Economic damage from the heavy flooding in many regions of the country could be as high as 50 billion baht, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) president Payungsak Chartsutipol said on Tuesday.
The government has given the go-ahead for a package of flood relief measures for some 3.7 million victims in 31 provinces, with the payment of 5,000 baht in emergency cash to each affected family set to start this week.
